It has now been confirmed in an undisclosed offering conversation with Telecel that MTN has sold its share in MTN Guinea-Bissau and Guinea-Conakry, exiting the small markets in WECA.
This sale has been confirmed by a spokesperson for the telco while holding on to the exact price these shares went for.
“Telecel, an established telecoms operator with a significant presence in Africa, is well positioned to drive the growth and further development of these operations and contribute to technological and economic progress in these markets,” a note in its financials said.
With this exit, MTN gets to focus more and invest more into its other existing WECA regions which are now 6 with a possible exit in Liberia.
